Departments

Business Administration Department
This department brings together students who want to work in management, or on international projects, or start their own businesses. This opens the door to post-graduation options such as working in Japan or working for a Japanese company in your own country. We aim to impart useful skills and qualifications.

Global Business
You’ll study a broad range of the details of trade needed for international business. Classes focus on being certified as a customs officer or international business professional. While studying international economics, finance, English for global trade, Japanese, and more, you’ll gain a global perspective on international business. This major is popular for its interactions between Japanese and non-Japanese students. Functioning as a bridge between Japan and your own country, you’ll be able to work in either place.
Business Management
This major focuses on management consulting, educating next-generation managers and business people. It provides a comprehensive set of management capabilities, including business administration, accounting & finance, and English for business. Classes emphasize a multi-faceted approach to real-world issues, considering both macro (global, national) and micro (regional, corporate) aspects.
Marketing & Distribution
This major begins with the fundamentals of selling and distributing goods. It teaches how to use marketing techniques that change with the times, and how to provide goods that add value to life and meet the customer’s needs. Regarding certification, it focuses on passing the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s “Sales Professional - Level One” certification, which is the industry standard.
IT Industry Business Department
With a focus toward work in internet and high-tech industries, this department teaches about electronic commerce, internet media, IT engineering, networking, and more, from the basics to hands-on experience. This curriculum was developed based on surveys of private companies and the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, so naturally in class you’ll study the necessary skills and abilities sought by the industry.
Retail Industry Business Department
This department is for students who want to work in retail or start their own retail store. Using a practice store in front of the school, students will learn by doing, including “front office” aspects like layout and implementation, displays, and customer interactions, as well as purchasing supplies, inventory control, sales management, staff scheduling and supervision, and sales forecasting.
Fashion Industry Business Department
The Tokyo School of Business’s department of Fashion Industry Business aims to develop student’s skills and sensibilities for fashion coordination, rather than designing clothes. We want to educate students who will become well-rounded professionals at the forefront of the fashion industry, covering all areas, from apparel-related sales and purchasing supplies, to displays and sales techniques.
Advertising & Mass Communications Department
This department is for students who want to work in the world of mass communications, including magazine editing, advertising, and talent agencies. The curriculum teaches writing and all the inter-personal skills that the industry demands. You’ll simultaneously learn practical skills and the fundamentals of social interaction. There are also opportunities for real-world training in the editing and production departments of major publishers and TV production companies.
Sports Industry Business Department
This department combines work with the student’s love of sports. You’ll study various aspects of sports business, including management of professional teams, event planning, and professional instruction.
General Office Business Department
This department teaches the communications and inter-personal skills sought after in the business world. We provide complete support as you build your skill set to include formal qualifications such as secretarial skills, business manners, Word, and Excel.
Pet Industry Business Department
Living with pets, and making pets happy, these ideas form the Tokyo School of Business’s approach in the Department of Pet Industry Business. Putting into practice the same thinking of advanced pet countries like Germany and England, we provide you with the right information and solid skills to work in pet businesses such as grooming, training, breeding, animal therapy, and animal care. Our instruction opens the doors to future employment, or starting your own business.
Floral Industry Business Department
You will learn about the different cultures of the world of flowers. You can become licensed by the Japan Floral Artists’ Association, and a certified instructor in the Ikenobo School of ikebana. This department is for students looking to work in retail flower shops, hotel and corporate displays, or bridal flowers.
